Ghosts in The Woman Warrior
The subtitle of The Woman Warrior is Memoirs of a Girlhood among Ghosts, stories about Maxine Hong Kingston’s memory in her girlhood. I finds many ghosts appears and with different meanings in different chapters of this novel. There are many dimensions on ghosts in this book including the spirit ghost and Kingston uses the ghost as a metaphor to criticize the American life and its civilization in some chapter. I would like to cite examples about ghosts from the fiction and refers the following focal points: meanings of ghosts, purports of ghosts which related to the woman warrior, and the importance of ghosts in this novel in following paragraph.
The first chapter, No Name Woman is a true story about Kingston’s paternal aunt who was not recognized by her family for the immoral adultery. Although Kingston’s mother forbidden her daughter tells to other people, Kingston still insists on writing this story and uses her imagination to make up the detail and consider the condition about her aunt after she is abandoned by her family which her mother doesn’t tell to her. Ghosts refer to her paternal aunt including three dimensions: the status of her aunt in her family after the immoral adultery, the spirit of her aunt after she die, and the haunting power to Kingston. Firstly, “Kingston’s aunt’s family curses Kingston’s aunt and condemns she is a ghost” after the immoral adultery. And Kingston’s aunt is not recognized as their daughter or sister by her family. In my own interpretation, Kingston’s aunt is regarded as a ghost because people consider that she is an invisible instead. Kingston never gives a name to her aunt but she chooses to use “No Name Woman” as the title of this story instead. In the second place, Kingston’s aunt drowns herself in the drinking water and die. In the Chinese folk custom, they will become a water-ghost if people were dying in the water. The water-ghost will find the best opportunity to find substitute to replace them as a ghost to reincarnate. So the villager is scared because they are afraid of Kingston’s aunt would like to find another substitute to replace her suffering in the water. What’s more, Kingston considers her aunts haunts her and hope Kingston voiced for her unfair treatment and tragic experience, so Kingston devotes herself to write the story about her aunts, who her family were unwilling to accept she as one of their family member. I recall the tragedy Hamlet was written by Shakespeare when I read the line “ My aunts hunts me─her ghost drawn to me....” In the beginning of the play, Hamlet’s father’s ghost tells Hamlet that he is trapped by his younger brother, Claudius and die. Hamlet’s father hopes Hamlet can avenge for his death.

My English Autobiography
My name is Chia-feng Hsieh, and my English name is Ryan. I was born on May 30, 1989 in the town of Lukang famous for its historic sites, eight important scenes, twelve famous locations, and many delicious snacks. There are five members in my family, including my parents, my younger sisters, and I. My father is a worker who makes the mirrors on motorcycles in a factory. My mother is a tailor who sews jeans at home. I have two younger sisters, both are undergraduates in the Chaoyang University of Technology; the eldest is a senior at the Department of Information Management, and the youngest is a freshman at the Department of Insurance. I am a graduate student at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, National Chung Hsing University.
I have become confident since I got 300 points at Level 1 in the exam of Saxoncourt Tests for Young Learners of English on April 4, 2001. I even got the first Merit Certificate in my life because of doing well in the exam of English Listening Comprehension when I was in the second year of Junior High school. Hence, I made up my mind to study at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures in my university life when I was in the third year of Junior High school. When I was a high school student, my English teacher assigned my classmates and I to attend the Contest of English Vocabulary, but unfortunately I got a little bit of a bad score. In the entrance exam for university, I got good scores and became an undergraduate at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Chung Hua University. But when I went to the Linguistics course at the first class I discovered I was unable to understand what my teacher said. I became a little bit sad I even regretted my foolish decision to enter this department. But the miracle came when I decided to give up. Accidentally, I discovered another interest. I was so happy to go to the Western Literature classes. I liked to hear many literary stories like Bible and Greek Mythology. I liked to hear our teacher analyze literary articles. Her teaching made us think more about the meaning of literary articles. These classes also made me have a habit to practice writing essays before the mid-term or final exam. Because of her relationship, I like to read and my reading ability became better than in the past. I often get very good scores in every literature class. Hence, I made up my mind to study at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures as the goal of majoring in English literature in my college life. Gradually, I adapted to the teaching methods which our teacher taught and acquired much knowledge in the different fields of English, such as Linguistics, Phonetics, Teaching Method and Methodology, and so on. I even got excellent grades in exams and got five Merit Certificates in my university life. Also I acquired the Certificate of General English Proficiency at the Level of Elementary when I was a freshman and got 605 scored points in the TOEIC Exam when I was a junior. I passed the entrance exam of graduate school before I graduated from Chung Hua University. So I am a graduate student at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, National Chung Hsing University now. I hope I can learn more knowledge about English literatures. I have even stronger ambitions to acquire the Certificate of General English Proficiency at the Level of High-Intermediate before I am awarded the Degree of Master of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English Language and Literature) as my present goal.

Iphigenia Among the Taurians
The story was taken entirely from two plays of Euripides, the fifth-century tragic poet. No other writer tells the story in full. The happy end brought about by a divinity, the deus ex machine, is a common device with Euripides alone of the three tragic poets.

Should We Always Uncover Truths
Is honesty the best policy? We are taught by our parents when we’re young. However, we discover many lie full of our society after we grew up. We often watch some news report our official corrupted the money on TV. But he always says he didn’t do even if he do did before he is judged by the judge. I disagree Robin Marantz said that our primate ancestors evolved so they could engage in the trickery, manipulation, skullduggery, and sleight of hand needed to live in larger social groups, which helped them to avoid predators and survive in her article "Looking for the lie". Also I oppose the Machiavellian Intelligence Hypothesis. I think the hypothesis is just rationalized the lies, and sympathize the fraud. In this case, our official is so rich than other people. Why he must lie to people and corrupt the money. Why he must do this bad behavior? To proof he is more intelligent guy? What strange and unreasonable reason. It is nonsense. I agree Errol Morris in his essay "There is Such a Thing as Truth", point out People ignore the truth because it serves their selfish interests. Like this case, why official didn’t confess the truth before he is caught. The reason is, if he confesses the fact he corrupted the money, he will receive the severe punishment like put in jail in many years. So he never says the truth before judge detect. But he still gets the severe punishment in the end. We must know that the less lies full of our life, the better society would be.

I don’t feel pressure from skinny celebrities. Why? Because I am so thin. Although I never try to diet, I am still thin. But many people especially women are affected by the magazine, skinny model now.
Most women would like to become so thin that they can wear some fit clothes and makes hers become sexy. Some woman carry out the plan like these: Don’t eat any food after 4 PM, and eat the apple as their breakfast.
I think the condition is morbid. Why people can’t eat some food when they are hungry? In Taiwan, in my opinion, most people are skinny rather than obese unlike U.S.A. I think the reason is Taiwanese main food is rice. Rice is difficult to make people become fat. But In America, they often eat fast food like French fries and fried chicken. The culture of fast food makes as much as 64% of the United States adult population is considered either overweight or obese.

The Helpless Moment
Everyone write the autobiography for some reason. Every great man all writes his autobiography by himself. For example, Franklin wrote his autobiography for warning and as a model. And the autobiography may record many important events which influence him a lot in his life. And I decide to write my autobiography to record these events which become my character now.
When I was an elementary school student, I was short, thin, self-abased and diffident. I was so shy that I can’t communicate to my classmates. I had no friends. For example, I was afraid of showing my picture to my classmates. I always refused to show the picture when my classmates requested me. So my classmates hated me and bullied me. To me, my classmates were Devil. Because they did many vicious things like these, daubed some pictures in my uniform, stole my teaching aids, put the emulgent into my beverage, put insects in my bags, changed my answer in the blackboard to make me get punishment from my foolish teacher and so many thing devil could do.
