Should We Always Uncover Truths
Is honesty the best policy? We are taught by our parents when we’re young. However, we discover many lie full of our society after we grew up. We often watch some news report our official corrupted the money on TV. But he always says he didn’t do even if he do did before he is judged by the judge. I disagree Robin Marantz said that our primate ancestors evolved so they could engage in the trickery, manipulation, skullduggery, and sleight of hand needed to live in larger social groups, which helped them to avoid predators and survive in her article "Looking for the lie". Also I oppose the Machiavellian Intelligence Hypothesis. I think the hypothesis is just rationalized the lies, and sympathize the fraud. In this case, our official is so rich than other people. Why he must lie to people and corrupt the money. Why he must do this bad behavior? To proof he is more intelligent guy? What strange and unreasonable reason. It is nonsense. I agree Errol Morris in his essay "There is Such a Thing as Truth", point out People ignore the truth because it serves their selfish interests. Like this case, why official didn’t confess the truth before he is caught. The reason is, if he confesses the fact he corrupted the money, he will receive the severe punishment like put in jail in many years. So he never says the truth before judge detect. But he still gets the severe punishment in the end. We must know that the less lies full of our life, the better society would be.
