An Unforgettable Red-letter Day
There is a story about a man and a woman. They have been lovers since five years ago. They are colleagues in a well-known international company. They never quarrel, and their love is admirable. But they didn’t know something will happen to test their love.
One day, they are available because it is a holiday. So they go to a cafe to discuss about the trip in the incoming summer vacation and celebrate their fifth anniversary.
‘‘Where do you think is a good place to go for a trip?’’ the woman asked.
‘‘I think Thailand will be a good choice,’’ the man said.
‘‘What foods can we eat in Thailand?’’ the woman asked.
‘‘You know? Durians are famous in Thailand. It’s delicious and nutritious, ’’ the man replied. ‘‘Oh my god！My sweetheart you’re wrong. America will be a better choice. Did you forget? I mentioned that I hate durians and local foods in Thailand many times. The food always makes me vomit. Remember?’’ the woman replied.
‘‘What? Did you forget I hate America? Also the expenses in America are more expensive than in Thailand,’’ the man replied.
The woman feels somewhat angry because her lover rejects her idea.
‘‘You’re the stingiest guy. I have tolerated the stingy behavior many times. You have never bought any birthday cake or present for me on my birthdays. You have never brought me to eat very good restaurant. You have never bought any souvenirs when you travel on business in Europe. You are the stingiest guy I have met in my life. Also, you’re not handsome, wealthy, and kind, ’’ the woman angrily replied.
‘‘You’re a material girl. You always spend your salary to buy expensive clothes and cosmetics. You’re unreasonable to request me to accompany you when I’m very tired and sleepy. You’re extravagant. Listen！ For me, I can’t waste any money,’’ he said.
‘‘Oh！ Cut it out. I’m angry and so tired. I think since we have hated each other for a long time. Why not breaking up?’’, the woman angrily said.
‘‘If you want to break up with me, then just do it,’’ the man angrily replied.
‘‘I think we have better break up. I think I might not love you again in my life. I’m so hungry and tired. I would like to eat dinner in the restaurant I booked tonight. I can’t eat dinner with you,’’ the woman said.
The woman leaves the cafe. After half an hour, the man doesn’t feel angry like previously. He thinks over the thing what has happened previously. He thinks his sweetheart is right. He is really a stingy guy. He has never bought any present even sends a birthday card to his sweetheart. He rejects and decides to beg his sweetheart’s pardon. So he decides to rush to the restaurant she has booked. He can’t wait the traffic light at all. He runs to red light. He almost runs into the truck. He can’t wait. Eventually he arrives at the restaurant b. But the restaurant she booked is on the fourth floor in this building. So he decides to use the elevator. But he discovers the elevator is out of service. So he can’t take but goes up the stairs.
When he reaches the fourth floor, he discovers there is black-out in the building. He feels something will happen because his eyelid is twitching severely when he arrives the building. He spends ten minutes trying to find his sweetheart. Finally, he finds his sweetheart and say to her.
‘‘Why did you come here? ’’ the woman said.
‘‘Because..,’’ the man said.
Suddenly, many customers cry out because they discover the kitchen is on fire. Many people escape the building. At that time, the man interrupts his apology. He would like to hold his sweetheart in his arms. But he sweetheart rejects that. His sweetheart is still angry for him. But the man holds his sweetheart in his arms and rushes out of the building. Because the fire burned so extremely and something is fallen on the man’s leg. Although the man is hurt, he still holds his sweetheart in his arms. His sweetheart discovers the man’s leg is bloody. They are sent to the hospital by take the ambulance. They are so tired in that night that they’re awaked the next afternoon. His sweetheart goes his lover’s ward and says thanks to him after she waked.
‘‘Thank you very much. Fortunately, you had come to the restaurant yesterday,’’ the woman said.
‘‘Sorry. It’s my entire fault, ’’ the man replied.
‘‘No, it’s not your fault. It’s my fault. Maybe we should choose the place we both like to take a trip,’’ the woman said.
The man agrees to his sweetheart’s saying. He feels hungry at that time.
‘‘I’m so hungry, let us have a nice meal to celebrate us get back together,’’ the man said.
The woman agrees it. So they will have a nice meal together. They leave the hospital. The man takes out a diamond ring from his pocket to propose to his sweetheart.
She agrees and kisses her lover.
