Great Expectations Critique

Charles Dickens often describes children’s life in his works. In this story, Dickens describes Pip is an orphan who is brought up by his sister. There are two points about this story which I like to discuss, as follows. The first point is about grate. At the first part, the story refers Pip’s change after he own money. Pip meets a convict on the gravestone. The convict forces Pip should bring some food and a file to him. If he doesn’t do, he will cut his throat. After Pip steals something to him, he grates Pip’s kind. Even he helps Pip to make his dreams about his great expectation to come true finally. Although the convict is a sinner, he still bears in mind. But Pip forgets Joe ever treat him so good when no anybody include his older sister. Even Pip somewhat look down on Pip after he goes to London . Pip was ashamed to Joes talking, and his status. While I read this part, I feel Pip is ungrateful and impolite to Joe. Is it impossible that he forget Pip always treating him well in his childhood? I also discover Pip is a snobbish guy. I was unable to imagine why Pip seem to become different kinds of person after he goes to London . Why London may make a kind, and innocent boy become too snobbish and unnatural. I think the problem like this is it impossible that someone who own money, forget others ever treat him well before he get money. I hate Pips unreasonable behavior. Even I am angry after I read the fact it refers Magwitch is his patron. I cannot understand. Why a convict was unable to bear Pip’s gratitude in mind? But an original person forgets. Although Pip waked the dream of his expectation when Pip knows Magwitch is his patron, he becomes kind person like young Pip in his childhood. Even he often thinks how to let Magwitch might not found by the officer. Finally, Pip knows his false to Joe in the end of this story. The next points are about betrayed and forgive. Before I tell you my thought to you Let us think the question What are you do if someone betray and cheat you We know Miss Havisham is so poor and even betray male no matter he is really hurt she or not. Miss Havisham always lives the pain of abandoning by his finance. She is unable to forget the pain and harm. So she holds Estella as her tool of betraying all male. She feels happy to look how badly Estella treats to Pip. She is a morbid woman. We are unable to blame that she is false because she ever betray by male. It is reasonable. But it is unfair to Estella’s love and Pip’s love. How foolish Pip loves to Estella who always hurt him by saying something make he look down himself. Finally Pip tells his love to Estella makes Miss Havisham discovers she is false and she hurt kind man like Pip. She said sorry to Pip. She is selfish and thoughts of betray is meaningless. She hopes Pip can forgive to her foolish behavior. Pip forgives Miss Havisham. Finally, let us think if you are Miss Havisham, what are you do after betray. Kill him? Or forgives him?
