Glee Season 5

EP.10 Trio
After moving out of the apartment she shared with Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) and Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), Rachel (Lea Michele) is revealed to have moved in with Elliott "Starchild" Gilbert (Adam Lambert), another member of "Pamela Lansbury," the band Kurt formed, and the two bond over an impromptu performance of "Barracuda." While working at the Broadway diner, she and Santana attempt to out-sing each other in a rendition of "Gloria," both vying for the approbation of Gilbert; instead, they inadvertently drive him from the band. Kurt, tired of their feuding, reconvenes Elliot and Dani (Demi Lovato) to form a new musical venture, "One Three Hill", who perform "The Happening" at their debut; while watching this trio, Rachel and Santana are forced to co-exist peacefully, leading to the beginnings of a reconciliation when Santana points out that they share a hunger for success and a willingness to backstab others, even ostensible friends, to get to the top.

Back home in Lima, Glee club members and good friends Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Blaine (Darren Criss) plan to spend some special time together before their impending graduation. Blaine brings up the idea of a senior-class lock-in, which is quickly quashed by Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch); as a result, the trio resolve to stage one of their own, sneaking onto school property overnight. Unexpectedly, Becky (Lauren Potter) happens upon them and forces them to play endless games of Twister in exchange for her silence. While Blaine is occupied pacifying her, Tina and Sam sneak off to make out, acting on their unresolved sexual tension; Blaine freaks out upon discovering them. He later apologizes for his overreaction to the constant changes in his life.

Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) and Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) become distracted from their teaching jobs when they decide to have a child, up to and including Emma dragging him to the staff restroom during work hours for inopportune attempts at conception. Will, on advice from Sue and Shannon Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones), distracts Emma from the details of fertility, enabling a much more conventional mood. At the end of the episode, as Will packs for Nationals, Emma reveals that she won't be going, as their efforts have been successful.

Finally, Blaine, Sam and Tina - plus Artie (Kevin McHale) - choose and perform as their senior song "Hold On," joined variously by Kurt's new trio, as well as Rachel and Santana in their various isolations.

EP.11 City of Angels

Glee club director Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) asks Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) to be ready to act as a leader when New Directions travels to Los Angeles for the National Show Choir Competition. Carole Hudson-Hummel (Romy Rosemont) and Burt Hummel (Mike O'Malley), mother and step-father of the club's late co-director Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith), agree to chaperone New Directions on the trip, and remind the club members how much Finn cared about them.

New Directions arrives in Los Angeles, and are met there by former member Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley), who has been given a record deal by Sony. They are then confronted by rival show choir Throat Explosion and its intimidating leader Jean-Baptiste (Skylar Astin). Later, Ryder Lynn (Blake Jenner) speaks with Marley Rose (Melissa Benoist) because she has apparently given up on her dream of becoming a singer-songwriter. She has received no response to the songs she's been sending out to contests, and she tells him that she's planning to quit the glee club after Nationals. He and Jake Puckerman (Jacob Artist) are rooming together, and after the two affirm that they are actually friends despite their past rivalry for Marley, they conspire to give copies of Marley's songs to Mercedes, who tells Marley that the songs are good and she needs to pursue her musical dreams.

Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Sam are with Carole and Burt, remembering past competitions, and Tina expresses regret that this will be their last one. Carole says that at least she will be here for this one—unstated is that Finn cannot be—but then apologizes. Later, however, she tells Burt that she doesn't think she can deal with seeing the competition, and the two decide to go to Laguna Beach instead.

That night, New Directions sneaks onto the stage of the auditorium, and Sam reveals that he brought Finn's plaque from the choir room to fulfill Finn's promise to be there with them at Nationals. Jean-Baptiste arrives, having made arrangements to use the auditorium for an all-night Throat Explosion rehearsal, and evicts New Directions. The next day, getting on New Directions' bus to go to Nationals, Sam can't find Finn's plaque in its case and accuses Jean-Baptiste of stealing it, though he denies doing so. Back on the bus, Sam gives a pep talk, telling everyone that Finn is there with them anyway.

At Nationals, the competition begins with the Amazonians show choir, after which Throat Explosion performs a mashup of "Mr. Roboto" and "Counting Stars", leaving the judges looking impressed and Sam and Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) depressed. Backstage before they go on, Will starts giving New Directions some final encouragement, but Carole and Burt interrupt—they turned back when she came to realize Finn would want her to see them—and she and Burt tell them to "wipe the floor" with the competition.

New Directions starts with "More Than a Feeling" featuring Blaine and Tina, continues with Artie being highlighted in "America", and ends with Sam taking lead on "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", at which point Carole realizes that the set is made up of Finn's favorite songs. Afterward, while the group celebrates their performance, Sam is off by himself, and tearfully tells Will, "I did my best, Mr. Schue." When the results are announced, New Directions comes in second to Throat Explosion.

Back in Ohio, Finn's plaque has been returned by Jean-Baptiste, who discovered that one of the Throat Explosion members—now an ex-member—had stolen it. Carole and Burt come to the choir room, and she says that hearing them perform songs was healing for her, knowing that Finn will live on in them. The ceremony of putting the second-place trophy in the case is interrupted by Becky Jackson (Lauren Potter), who summons Will to see principal Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch).

Sue is just congratulating cheerleading coach Roz Washington (NeNe Leakes) for having won her Nationals competition, but her news for Will is bleak: since he didn't win, and despite her affection for him, her duties as principal require her to disband the glee club along with several other school activities due to budgetary constraints. The bad news travels quickly: Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) tells feuding fellow McKinley graduates Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) of the club's demise during their shift at the Spotlight Diner in New York City.

EP.12 100

Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera), Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley), Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron), Noah "Puck" Puckerman (Mark Salling), Brittany S. Pierce (Heather Morris) and Mike Chang (Harry Shum, Jr.) return to Lima for the glee club's last week. For their 100th assignment, glee club director Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) asks old and new members alike to sing remixed versions of their favorite songs, and announces he has invited April Rhodes (Kristin Chenoweth) to join them. Will and April then lead the students in a performance of "Raise Your Glass".

Puck plans to rekindle his relationship with Quinn, only to find out she's dating Biff McIntosh (Chace Crawford), an arrogant billionaire, and has been hiding her past from him. Quinn, Santana and Brittany later perform "Toxic", but Brittany feels her dancing was not up to par, and feels she's lost her creative streak since learning she's a mathematical genius. Meanwhile, Rachel and Mercedes begin feuding over who is more successful, and decide to settle their dispute through a "diva-off", in which they perform "Defying Gravity" alongside Kurt, and leave it to the others to vote for who was better.

Will and April remind Principal Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) that April's charity foundation owns the auditorium, which means the glee club could move to the auditorium and rely on the foundation's funding to move forward, but Sue reveals that Will has already blown most of the money on costumes and scenery, and April's assets have been frozen, meaning glee club is still over.

Santana cheers up Brittany through a performance of "Valerie", backed up by Mike and Jake Puckerman (Jacob Artist). Puck then serenades Quinn with "Keep Holding On" and encourages her not to be ashamed for her past. Quinn tells Biff the truth, including that she has a daughter with Puck. He is infuriated and insults her, causing Puck to beat him up and throw him into the dumpster. Biff then breaks up with Quinn and returns to Yale.

During the diva-off voting, Santana humiliates Rachel, who is consoled by Mercedes. They reaffirm their friendship and gleefully accept that the votes are tied. They are soon joined by Holly Holliday (Gwyneth Paltrow), who was invited by April, and convinces the glee club to sing something new, leading for a rendition of "Happy". Puck and Quinn develop a relationship, and Brittany declares her love for Santana, though Santana is reluctant to date her again after their painful break-up.

Will reunites Rachel, Kurt, Santana, Mercedes, Artie, Tina, Puck, Quinn, Brittany and Mike in the auditorium and thanks them for being part of his life. April and Holly, who had been watching from the sidelines, realize how important glee club is to Will and decide to team up to save it.

EP.14 New New York

Life in New York City has its own challenges for the newly transplanted McKinley graduates and already established glee club members, now that some months have passed. Rachel Berry is a leading lady on Broadway with all that entails, Kurt Hummel is now rooming with both fiancé Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) and Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet), and film school student Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale) has trouble getting places in his wheelchair. Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley) is another arrival in the city; she is looking to record a new album.
